With 18 years of experience in property management and a passion for helping others thrive, Julia Riddell knows what it takes to run a high-performing team — and the kind of tech that makes a difference.

We sat down with Julia to learn more about her journey, her experience with OurProperty, and what she’s most excited to bring to the role.

How long have you been in the property management industry, and what roles have you held along the way?

I’ve been in the property management industry for 18 years. Over that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work across various roles, which has really given me a broad understanding of the field. For 11 of those years, I worked closely with Nikki and Jacinda at Philip Webb, who are also now a part of the OurProperty family, where I eventually moved into a team leader role. That experience helped me grow not only in terms of industry knowledge but also in leadership and team development.

You used OurProperty at your previous agency — what was your first impression of the platform?

Like with any new software, it felt a bit overwhelming at first. But once I got the hang of it, I could see the real value. It was a one-stop shop for everything we needed day to day, which made it incredibly convenient. I quickly appreciated how much time it saved and how it simplified so many processes.

Were there any features or workflows in OurProperty that made a big difference to your day-to-day work?

Absolutely — the rent review and lease renewal features were standout tools. They significantly cut down on paperwork and removed the need for repetitive tasks or double handling. It freed up time and reduced errors, which made my day flow a lot smoother.

How did using OurProperty change the way your team worked, compared to the systems you used before?

The biggest shift was not needing to constantly switch between programs or search for backup documents elsewhere. With OurProperty, we could access everything in one place — even when we were out on the road. That mobility and centralisation made a massive difference in how efficient and responsive we could be.

What made you want to join the team at OurProperty?

Having trained other property managers on the platform and seeing firsthand how much it could improve their workflow, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of. I also loved the idea of working alongside familiar faces again, and the flexibility of working from home was a great bonus.

Now that you’re on the other side of the product, what are you most excited to contribute to?

I’m really excited to help make OurProperty the best property management software on the market. Being able to support other property managers, teach them the system, and lighten their already heavy workload is something I’m passionate about.

 

If I can help free up their time so they can focus more on building strong relationships with clients — and even grow their rent rolls — then I feel like I’m making a real impact.

 

Whether she’s guiding an agency through onboarding or helping a team uncover better ways of working, Julia has a genuine knack for making the complex feel simple. We’re lucky to have her on the team, and even luckier to have her leading our clients through their first steps with OurProperty.
